Yes, they are certainly not limited to rainy days and are a great every day shoe!
The hard work is done with the membrane layer which is completely waterproof. This will allow for a dry outing in most situations. However, if they get VERY wet, water can find its way inside the shoe so we recommend following the care instructions and wearing a rain pant over the top of the shoe for puddle jumping and more wet outings. We can confidently say that the Meriweather Sock Shoe will provide the protection needed for most outings (including puddle jumping!).
Our shoes consist of an outer layer and inside layer of 100% nylon and cotton, respectively. They sandwich a 100% waterproof PU membrane.
Using chemical treatments was a non-starter for us because we wanted to keep them as safe for our kids and the environment as possible. Because of this, the shoes may appear wet after a rainy stroll, but the inside will remain dry.
No, they will not soak through due to the waterproof membrane. However, what you may find is that if the shoes get VERY wet, especially up the shoe towards the cuff, the water may be channeled into the inside layer - causing it to get wet. We are working on a solution to this but it isn't as easy as it sounds!
For more wet outing we do recommend wearing a pant over the upper portion of the shoe to prevent this from happening. We also recommend that they be tossed in the dryer to tumble dry or stuffed with towel/newspaper and air-dried upside down after a wet activity.
If you spend a lot of time outdoors, consider ordering multiple pairs so you can switch between them allowing the first pair ample time to dry in the case of very wet outings.

We are able to ship internationally to most countries supported by the standard carriers. The customer will be responsible for all D&T at import. Please be sure to review our returns/exchanges policies HERE prior to placing an order.
We try to ship orders within 1-2 business days. It is up to the carrier service to do the job from there. We would anticipate 3-5 days business days after processing. All orders ship from Oregon, USA.
