A sock shoe that doesn't soak through. That's the whole thing.

Stretchy upper, water-resistant membrane, thin grippy sole underneath. Zero drop, wide footbed — toes get to do what toes do. Pulls on like a sock, so there's nothing to lace, buckle, or lose one of. Parents keep telling me the same thing: they don't get kicked off in the car.

Puddles, wet grass, the walk from the car.

Why these

Dry feet, and feet that still get to be feet.

Toddler in a yellow raincoat crouched in a puddle wearing blue Meriweather sock shoes

Water-resistant membrane

Rain, splashes, wet grass, the walk from the car. The water stays on the outside. Not made for swimming.

The grippy soles of a pair of yellow sock shoes

Zero drop, wide footbed

No heel. Room for toes to spread. A thin, grippy sole that protects underfoot without stiffening the step.

Toddler walking through fall leaves in yellow Meriweather sock shoes

Nothing to lose one of

No laces, no velcro, no buckles. Parents keep telling me the same thing: they don't get kicked off in the car.

Getting them on

The cuff is tall. Here's the trick.

Push a foot straight down from the top and you'll think they're too small. They're not. Do it this way and it takes about four seconds.

  1. Roll the cuff down.Fold it toward the sole, like you're about to put on a sock.
  2. Toes in first.Keep the cuff rolled while the foot goes in.
  3. Get the heel all the way back.Pull gently while they push their foot in. It stretches.
  4. Roll the cuff back up.Over the ankle. On wet days, pants go over the top.

The honest scorecard

How they stack up. Including where they don't.

Rain boots win in a deep puddle. Regular sock shoes are easier to pull on. These are for everything in between, which is most days.

Difficult to put on

These are way too challenging to put on my 12 month old. Given the difficulty, we cannot use these shoes at all.

Super cute!

I haven't used it yet as my baby can't walk solo quite yet, but i got one for a friend and she loves it in our rainy climate!

Perfect shoe for all weather days!

I've owner these shoes for six months now. I bought them for my 2 year old triplets. I haven't been able to use them as much as I like because of the climate in my area we have very cold and snowy winters. Now, with the in-between weather as we transition to spring there are lots of puddles and MUD outside. These shoes have proven to be all-around stars for handling anything a busy toddler can put them up against. Easy to clean and maintain. No laces or velcro straps. The shoes are soft and flexible, yet powerful for standing up to the demands of little kids putting them to the test. The shoes are amazing on playgrounds - I think they give littles an advantage on the playground. They're secure, yet natural for play. No shoes getting kicked off by accident in the car or in the stroller. These are such a great buy for toddler parents!!

Excellent choice! Our new habbit!

Its been almost 2 months since Meriweather Sock Shoes were delivered to us here in Greece and we are absolutely satisfied! My daughter wears them every day and that is a wonderful experience cause we slpash them into the water and her feet don't get wet, she wears them in the snow and her feet don't get wet or even get frozen, she wears them during the sunny winter days and she can run and play like she is wearing sports shoes, she wears them with pads, with skirts, at the playground or even at a special occasion and every time its our best option! They are easy to clean with a baby wipe or wash them in the laundry. The colour we chose -fuchsia- is adorable and fits every girly appearance! Thank you Meriweather! Thank you Dadwithtriplets! We are about to order our second pair of Sock Shoe one size bigger!

Great for new walkers

My son was learning to walk and it is also Fall weather. So we wanted something sturdy and easy to put on. This fit the bill. Also it is easy to clean! Which is a bonus. It had stood up to puddles and also kept sand with when playing in the playground! Recommend that any parent with a new walker give it a try.

Best rain “boot”.

These are amazing! My one year old has no problem walking in them at all and her feet stay nice and dry in this wet PNW weather. I wish I would have sized up as they do seem to run a bit small. She has rounder feet so I have to really struggle to get the toes under the rubber and she can’t wear her wool socks in them. Wish they came in my size!

Robust, cosy and cute

These shoes are just fab. They’re comfy for my little ones and have plenty of room for little toes to spread out and grow.

They’re great in all weather and the rubber soles have even held up well to a balance bike ride or two. Will be recommending them to friends and family.

They do what they’re made to do!

It’s been a struggle to find the perfect outdoor conditions in KY to test out the boot socks, so my daughter-in-law decided to create her own using the bath tub.

My granddaughter had fun splashing around and the boots passed the test 100%!

I have videos of splashing and proof that her Jammie’ feet were dry but I’m not sure how to post those here.

Comfortable and Warm

These sock shoes are so cute, comfortable and warm. My LO always takes off his shoes and boots in the car seat but these don't bother him and he keeps them on! He walks comfortably and doesn't slip in them as he does when he wears normal socks. The base is hard but not too hard so I'm not concerned about his arches' development. I'm happy with this purchase and would buy them again as he grows.

Best thing since sliced bread

Seriously just buy them. If your kid hates shoes, bam! no problem because they’re more socks than anything. The quality of these exceeded my expectations, you’ll have no problem keeping your little ones feet dry and warm.

Our go-to Walkie shoe!

Our 3 and 1.5 YO love these shoes. Wide toe box and not too snug on the top part of the foot either. Rain or shine, they prefer these to their sneakers

Great quality and they look very comfy!

Overall we really enjoy them! We haven’t had a chance to have rain yet but they hold up well at the park and he seems very comfortable running around in them. Nice and wide for the little chubby feet. Good material and breathable. Baby’s foot was not too sweaty after wearing. Would recommend! I would love to see a black or navy blue option in a color. Maybe one day 😊

2.5 yr old loves her new shoes

My 2 1/2 year old girl loves these shoes! (And she’s very particular on what shoes she wears). We tested them in the snow and when we came in her feet and socks under were completely dry. She doesn’t want to take them off she loves them so much. She loves puddle jumping and I can’t wait for her to wear them in the puddles in the spring. These would also be perfect for an early walker. She refused to wear shoes when she started walking and I couldn’t find anything light enough for her feet.

Great shoes

This is a great inexpensive option to barefoot shoes for your little ones. The sock part was initially pretty tight for my little’s chubby feet but stretched after a few wears and are easy on and off especially when they’re in their independent era. Can’t wait to see how these do in the rain!

My puddle magnet 1 yo stayed dry & warm!

My 13 month old is unable to stay out of a puddle within a 5 mile radius and will instantly soak through other shoes. Traditional rainboots are too loose and just fall off his feet. We tried Meriwether this afternoon after it had trained this morning. He was running through wet grass and soggy leaves, and, of course, stomping through puddles. When I took off these shoes, his feet and socks were still completely dry and warm, despite the outside of the shoes being wet to the touch. Now if I could get a whole Meriwether bodysuit for him, because his jeans are sopping and his hands are cold. We love Meriwether!

Grandma gift was a hit!

I purchased these for my toddler grandchildren. I look forward to seeing the kids in them when they come to the farm over Thanksgiving weekend. My daughter said they are great. Easy to put on/off and well made. I’m happy with my purchase.

So convenient for my triplets!

I’ve had my eye on these shoes for a long time and I’m so glad I finally got my kiddos a pair! The material seems very durable, and they are so easy to put on and take off. One of my kids has a wide foot and finding shoes to fit correctly has been challenging, so these shoes have been incredibly helpful for that! I would absolutely recommend you grab a pair for your little one(s)!

Outstanding

These are so much better than I was even expecting. Both of my daughters (3 and 1) love them and are very keen to wear them. They've worn them for walking through the autumnal Scottish woodland and even to splash in puddles - my husband and I were both amazed when we got home and took the shoes off to find TOTALLY dry socks underneath. Now can I get them in adult size please?!

Wow!

These are amazing! From the colour to the functionality they’re just flawless. They are so much better for my son’s feet than the usual welly boot. These will most definitely be a staple part of my son’s wardrobe. These are a necessity for us in England and will get lots of use so it was really important that they are comfortable and practical. If only they did adult sizes 😀

My toddler loves these!

These are so comfortable for my toddler to run in. They have the support, but the flexibility makes them so much better than typical rain boots (that tend to cause a lot of tripping). Because they are tight, she also cannot take them off easily by herself, which is better for us in most cases. She can't wait for more puddles!

So cute and functional!

Had my eye on these for awhile! They’ve got fun colors and have a great fit even for wider feet. Still a little big on my child but excited for them to grow into them!

Awesome Shoe for Toddler!

This shoe (sock combo) is incredible! They are super easy to get on and off and my little one loves them! They do exactly what they're supposed to - keep little's feet warm and dry. A go-to in our day to day!

So cute!

I got these wonderful sock shoes after seeing them on the triplets' stories over and over. I was happily surprised with the quality. I struggled a bit figuring out which size to order (I was going off of the measurement that they provide on the website and not the US conversion sizes) and unfortunately ended up with a pair that is too big, in hindsight, I should have followed their conversion recommendations. Returns seem very easy to do, however, I'll just keep them and use later once they fit. My only worry is that the "sock" part seems a little tight for my chubby legged girl, other than that they are absolutely wonderful!

Questions parents actually ask

Are they waterproof?

No, and I'm not going to pretend. They're water-resistant. The membrane keeps out splashes, rain and wet grass. Water can still come in over the top, so for a deep puddle you want a taller boot. On wet days, put pants over the cuff.

How do I pick a size?

Measure heel to longest toe in centimeters and go by that, not the age. Between two sizes, take the bigger one. They're growing. Size chart

They feel tight going on. Did I get the wrong size?

Probably not. The cuff is tall, so pushing a foot straight down from the top feels tight. Roll the top down, heel in first, roll it back up. Once they're on, they fit like a sock.

Can they go in the wash?

Yes. Machine wash on cold, then air dry. No dryer, no direct heat. Heat is what ruins the membrane.

Can I mix sizes and colors in a pack?

Yes. Pick a size and color for each pair. Two pairs or more ship free.

What if they don't fit?

There's a 30-day fit guarantee. Email hello@meriweatherboot.com and I'll sort out an exchange or a return. Returns policy
